Field Trips at our Nature Center
Field trips at Ashland Nature Center, Abbott’s Mill Nature Center, and DuPont Environmental Education Center are a great way to engage in hands-on investigations and have a safe, fun, and educational outdoor experience.
TIP: Consider scheduling both morning and afternoon programs with a picnic lunch in between to maximize use of buses.

Let Delaware Nature Society come to you! We offer presentations and activities indoors or outside at your location, be it a school, community center, or more.
Overnight and Extended-Day
Immerse your group in science and discovery with an extended experience at Ashland Nature Center.
ne to three day programs are developed collaboratively with group leaders and DelNature staff. Overnight experiences include multiple hands-on activities led by dedicated naturalists. Based at Ashland’s Overnight Lodge, each traditional overnight event includes a night hike, campfire, morning walk, and your choices of one evening presentation and one daytime field study. There are themed Overnight options with activities designed to highlight seasonal nature and natural history!

Scout Merit Badges
We provide programs that support merit badges for your Scouts or Girl Scouts troop. See our Field Trip topics and our Bring DelNature to You Outreach topics.
Preschool Programs
DelNature’s preschool programs give children ages 3–5 the opportunity to engage in immersive, nature-based learning experiences. Young learners explore the natural world through hands-on discovery, guided outdoor exploration, and sensory-rich activities designed specifically for early childhood development.

Scholarships
We believe every child deserves the opportunity to connect with nature. Thanks to generous donors, DelNature offers full and partial scholarships for summer camps, public programs, and school programs. Funds are limited and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.


Public Programs and Summer Camp Scholarships
Awards are based on household size, income, and program availability.

School Field Trip & Overnight Experience Scholarships
Available exclusively for minors and awarded on a first-come basis.
- Day programs: up to 100% of participant fees covered for qualifying students
- Overnights: up to 50% coverage
- Outreach programs are not eligible
To apply, submit a written request on school letterhead including:
- School name and contact information
- Program name and registration ID
- Number of students qualifying for free/reduced lunch

Program Policies
All Programs
- Advance registration required
Overnights
- Non-refundable deposit of $260 (equivalent to 12 participants) is required to reserve an Overnight. Deposit is due within two weeks of making the reservation. Balance is due 30 days prior to the program.
- The minimum price for an overnight is $300.
Field Trips
- Minimum fee equivalent to 10 participants
- Full payment due 30 days prior (non-refundable)
